Fall Charity Auction: Nov 17 – 26, 2014

We are thrilled to announce that we have partnered with the California Browncoats to hold our upcoming online charity auction via their eBay account. The auction will begin November 17 at 8am PST and continue for 10 days.

The proceeds of this auction will be split between Edmonton’s Youth Empowerment and Support Services (a shelter & support program for homeless teens), Kids Need to Read (a US-based children’s literacy charity), Equality Now (an international women’s advocacy organization), and the Edmonton Women’s Emergency Accommodation Centre.

Our goal is to raise $2,000 USD to be split between these wonderful organizations. Of course, we’d love to shatter that goal with your shiny help!

We welcome bids from all over the world.

We would like to extend a special thanks to our auction donors:

First Annual (we hope) On-line Charity Auction

Once upon a time, a fabulously amazing individual (you may know him as John Barrowman), suggested we branch out in our fundraising activities to share our donated goodies with the rest of the world. Not one to argue with a great idea, especially when it comes with donated auction items, we’re launching our first annual on-line charity auction.

Our auction will run from April 1 to April 30 and proceeds will be split between Edmonton’s Youth Empowerment and Support Services (www.yess.org – a local homeless shelter for teens), Kids Need to Read (www.kidsneedtoread.org – a US-based children’s literacy charity), Equality Now (www.equalitynow.org – an international women’s advocacy organization), and the Comic Legends Legal Defense Fund (www.clldf.ca/).

Our goal is to raise $5,000 to be split between these wonderful organizations.

The items appearing in the auction will change as the month progresses. Each auction item should appear on the site for a minimum of 14 days. One or two special items will be available for bidding for the full 30-day period.

We welcome bids from all over the world and auction winners will be liable for all shipping charges for their items.

Curious as to what we’ll have up for auction? We’ll post the auction link on the website, Twitter and Facebook accounts on April 1, 2014!

Charity Auction Item Previews

This post contains photos of items which will be up for bids in our  live and silent auction. The auctions take place at our Can’t Stop the Serenity 2013 charity event on June 22nd (noon-5pm) at the Metro Cinema Society (Garneau Theatre; 8712 109 St, Edmonton).

At our auction we’ll accept cashy money, debit and credit cards. The Metro Cinema Society has an ATM in the lobby if you prefer to stick with cash.

You’ll notice that some donations will list multiple donors. It’s not a mistake. This most often occurs in the case of autographed items. Multiple people may have been involved in making the donation happen and we like to acknowledge all of them. Some will purchase items. Others will take the item, stand in long lines and pay for autographs. And a few shiny stars will donate (or heavily discount) their autograph.

Proceeds from the Edmonton event are divided between Equality NowKids Need to Read, and the Edmonton Youth Empowerment and Support Services (YESS, formerly the Youth Emergency Shelter Society).
