July 10 – Knitting at the Carrot

It appears that Edmonton is once again under a severe thunderstorm watch. While we do plan to hold our regular knitting session at the Carrot (9351 118 Ave) beginning at 6:30 pm, we may end up leaving early if the weather decides not to cooperate. We know that many of our wonderful knitters come from all over the city and we don’t want to risk anyone being unable to get home if city roads and underpasses flood.

Please don’t feel you have to come if the rain and hail that’s being projected appears. We’d rather have you safe than soggy!

Please keep an eye on our twitter account (@ABbrowncoats) or Facebook page for updates. It’s a bit easier to update those accounts on the fly in case of emergencies, so any news updates will appear their first.

Thanks everyone. Stay safe. Let’s hope that the watch doesn’t get upgraded to a warning (or worse!) over the next few hours.

Homeless for a Night + Knitting and Karaoke

On Friday, June 7, most of the regular Karaoke & Knitting group will be spending the night out in the cold at Telus field. Six of us will be participating in the Homeless for a Night event, raising funds for YESS. To date, our team has raised $2906 for our partner charity.

People are still welcome to attend Karaoke & Knitting (look for people knitting tri-coloured toques) but we are unable to guarantee anyone will be there. So perhaps this is a good week to skip.

Busy Little Browncoats

April is shaping up to be a busy month.

First, there was #jaynehatgate.

Now we’ve got coffee and knitting hats of a certain colour & style scheduled for April 10th & 24th. For our musically inclined members, we’ve got a weekly knitting & karaoke session every Friday evening. On April 20th we’re hosting a screening of Dr. Horrible’s Sing-along Blog at Happy Harbor Comics (CSTS Affiliate event) followed on April 21st selling 50/50 tickets at an Oiler’s game on behalf of YESS.org. Then it’s off to Calgary at the end of the month for the Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo (Fri-Sun) and a Browncoats Shindig featuring Vanessa Cardui on April 27th.

*Whew*

When we said we’d be working to make this group a lot more than 1 or 2 social events a year, we weren’t kidding.

For more details on any of the events listed on this page, please see our Shindig calendar.
