Red Deer Expo 2016

June 11th and 12th you could find us at the inaugural Red Deer Expo!  We had a fabulous time with our con family and got to spend a few minutes basking in Morena Baccarin’s glory. For those of you who’ve been following our Geekograph’s progress, it has now been signed by Nathan, Jewel, Alan and Morena. We’re hoping to fit a few more signatures on to it before we auction it off to charity.

A familiar face dropped by the booth and won our weekend draw. Congrats Alvin!

We combined our proceeds from EEK! Fest and the Red Deer Expo and were able to donate another $500 to the Red Cross’ Ft McMurray Fire Appeal.

2016 Calgary Expo

This year our small pool of volunteers continued to work long and hard to bring all the shiniest goodies in the ‘verse to our Browncoat brethren.  Thanks to the amazing generosity of our con family, Alan arranged for the creation and donation of 49 custom  Browncoat Powerseed devices using a design by member Nat Dempsey.

We didn’t host a Serenity screening this year, but we did manage to donate an impressive $2695 to charities as a result of booth sales and donations.

The donation breakdown from Calgary Expo 2016 is as follows:

  • GRIT Society (Calgary): $2045
  • Kids Need to Read: $208.00
  • Canadian Red Cross (Ft. McMurray Fire Appeal): $500

Thank you everyone for making this a great experience. See you next year (or, at Edmonton Expo in Sept!)

Lethbridge Expo – 2015

We had a fabulous time at the Serenity Screening at the Movie Mill and puttering about the Lethbridge Expo last month.

We’re still waiting for the final #s and payments to arrive, but in the meantime, we have been able to disburse $675 to Lethbridge based organizations. $425 was donated to the Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs of Lethbridge and District and $250 was donated to YMCA’s Hestia Houses.

This brings out total funds donated to charity in 2015 to $6780.12 and our cumulative charity disbursement totals (since 2010) to $51528.05 CAD!  We may be small, but thanks to so many wonderful people who have supported us over the years, attended events, won auction items, purchased from our charity booth at conventions, and donated items (special thanks to our Captain for tirelessly signing them), we’ve become very, very mighty!

Many thanks to Matt for inviting us down to the Lethbridge show and facilitating the screening at the Movie Mill!.
