2016 Calgary Expo

This year our small pool of volunteers continued to work long and hard to bring all the shiniest goodies in the ‘verse to our Browncoat brethren.  Thanks to the amazing generosity of our con family, Alan arranged for the creation and donation of 49 custom  Browncoat Powerseed devices using a design by member Nat Dempsey.

We didn’t host a Serenity screening this year, but we did manage to donate an impressive $2695 to charities as a result of booth sales and donations.

The donation breakdown from Calgary Expo 2016 is as follows:

  • GRIT Society (Calgary): $2045
  • Kids Need to Read: $208.00
  • Canadian Red Cross (Ft. McMurray Fire Appeal): $500

Thank you everyone for making this a great experience. See you next year (or, at Edmonton Expo in Sept!)

Lethbridge Expo – 2015

We had a fabulous time at the Serenity Screening at the Movie Mill and puttering about the Lethbridge Expo last month.

We’re still waiting for the final #s and payments to arrive, but in the meantime, we have been able to disburse $675 to Lethbridge based organizations. $425 was donated to the Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs of Lethbridge and District and $250 was donated to YMCA’s Hestia Houses.

This brings out total funds donated to charity in 2015 to $6780.12 and our cumulative charity disbursement totals (since 2010) to $51528.05 CAD!  We may be small, but thanks to so many wonderful people who have supported us over the years, attended events, won auction items, purchased from our charity booth at conventions, and donated items (special thanks to our Captain for tirelessly signing them), we’ve become very, very mighty!

Many thanks to Matt for inviting us down to the Lethbridge show and facilitating the screening at the Movie Mill!.

Edmonton Expo – Prize Draws

Good morning everyone.  We hope you had a great Expo. If you purchased a raffle ticket this weekend, and didn’t make it back to our booth to check the numbers, no fear. We have all the details ready to go…

As you can see, we’re still waiting to hear from our Saturday and Grand Prize winners.

We will keep posting the numbers on Facebook and Twitter for 1 week to give people a chance to claim the prizes. If we don’t hear from anyone by Monday, October 5, we will redraw. We kept all the tickets and hope you kept yours as well.

As shiny as winning a prize is, everyone who participated should give themselves a giant pat on the back. Between the Serenity screening, draw, and booth shopping, you’ve helped raise $1335.46 this weekend. We’ll be dividing the proceeds between YESS and WEAC.

Calgary Expo: Wrap-up

We have to admit, out hearts jumped into our throats when we learned Neil Patrick Harris was not only coming to Calgary Expo as a last minute addition, but that he’d been scheduled for a panel at the same time as our charity Serenity screening. But, you lovely, loyal and amazing Browncoats proved we had nothing to be worried about. Despite the conflict in scheduling, 110 Browncoats eschewed NPH and came to our screening, raising $669.  Our booth raised another $1382 for a total of $2051 to donate to charity this month.

The donation breakdown is as follows:

  • GRIT Society (Calgary): $1080
  • Kids Need to Read: $505.50
  • YESS (Edmonton): $332.50
  • Northern Food Bank: $133

Thank you everyone for making this a great experience. See you next year (or, at Edmonton Expo in Sept!)
